Lithium-ion batteries production with electrodes from nanocomposite structures workshop was opened on JSC «Safonovsky Plant «Gidrometpribor» basis on June 3.

Currently the development work has been completed, the laboratory results transferring to mass production stage has started and it has become possible to summarize the first results as well. This is an advanced innovative product and unique technology in the world. New batteries capacity will be higher than the most modern existing models. At the same time they will be charged faster and withstand more recharge cycles.

The current project is an effective public-private partnership example. The development work was initiated by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation and carried out by specialists from Frumkin Institute of Physical Chemistry and Electrochemistry of the Russian Academy of Sciences headed by Professor A.M. Skundeen. Experimental design developments were implemented on JSC «Safonovsky Plant «Gidrometpribor» basis, where mass production is currently organized.

New generation lithium-ion batteries will have the widest applications scope range for providing energy to medical equipment, computing devices, mini-computers, digital recording equipment, smart cards, equipment for military personnel, as well as various energy storage devices.
